Please Bee Friendly, Monmouthshire

It is always heartbreaking to see the cowparsley cut down on my lane just as it comes into flower. It looks beautiful and is so good for the wildlife. I live on a single track lane and loosing the flowers and verge growth makes no difference to the safety of the road, in fact it makes people drive more slowly which is a great thing. If the council cannot afford to resurface this very tired road how can they justify spending money cutting the verges on quiet country roads where wildlife can only benefit? Please stop cutting the hegderows!

Insect pollinators are important and policies such as this one that recognise that fact and seek to create suitable habitats for them need to be supported.

The Welsh Beekeepers' Association commend this project and would ask Monmouth Council for their full support. We are sure that a balance can be found that will ensure road safety as well as preserving the diverse ecosystem where insect pollinators can thrive.

Makes so much more sense. A small change for considerable benefit.

It hs to be possible to striek a balance between traffic safety and biodiversity. Much more can and should be done about traffic safety by promoting safer styles of driving, and adherence to the speed limits. I hope that Monmouth's pollinator policy is implemented and that my local council will introduce something similar. Last year's late Spring was not taken into account and most of the wild flowers on verges and banks were strimmed away before they had come into full flower.

And it should save the tax payer some money as well.

Important for biodiversity conservation

Each year I groan when the wonderful show of wild flowers in the verges of Hereford Road Monmouth are strimmed

I strongly support this initiative, which will promote flora and fauna diversity, and could save money.

Without bees and many other pollinators, our land would become a dead zone.

We need Bees, don't cut them out of our world!
