A great idea and no doubt it will be of benefit to students and locals alike. Whilst the obvious and most popular sport to be played is volleyball, beach facilities like the ones suggested can have so many other uses as well for sports such as foot volley, beach tennis (or badminton, depending on who you speak to), boot camp style fitness classes, touch rugby to name but a few. Thus demonstrating a) how the facilities could be of benefit to other sports and b) offer a variety jam packed usuage for different target audiences. I have seen both from a professional working capacity and from a personal interest just how much beach facilities in urban areas are worth investing in and how popular they are! With such a strong volleyball community in the area this seems the next obvious step to make in developing further opportunities to play volleyball.
Why go to the beach when the beach can come to you?!

A beach volleyball will be perfect especially during the spring and summer months. Essex is a renowned dry area and the court would be utilized throughout these months. It would also link in with green exercise. This would complement our fantastic outdoor activities that we currently offer e.g. Frisbee golf
