Let's spend tax dollars to keep a vital right of way open, not close a vital waterway.

This issue should have been fixed after Hurricane Ike. The road flooding has gotten worse over the years & is affecting access to & from the peninsula. Businesses suffer as well as residents who drive to & from work.

There is a significant possibility of a great loss of life when the next large hurricane arrives and the only exit off the Bolivar Peninsula is by ferry, which also might close in case of imminent danger. During Thanksgiving, my family attempted to go on Hwy 87 towards Winnie. As we got closer to the curve, a large wave arose and made a very scary splash across the entire road. I was afraid that we were going to be swept out to the sea. (I have a photo of that wave hitting the road). We quickly turned around and headed back west to our home. Last week, Hwy 87 was closed and my husband's commute to work which is usually 65 minutes was almost 3 hours. He had to travel by ferry and then was required to circle back around to I-10 East. Please help us. This highway repair must become an immediate priority. Thank you.
