I live here and have seen water over the highway just because it's high tide. We need improvements quickly!

I believe the road condition is caused by Galveston County not having the beach replenished properly after Ike. Steps should be taken immediately to protect the road way. Boulders, beach replenishment, rip wrap, some kind of permanent barrier to protect our beach and HWY. it is not only a TX Dot problem. Galveston County needs to ensure that the beach erosion is controlled so that we may have a Hwy. Why aren't Galveston officials working with the state to solve this problem?

What happened to raising hwy. 87?
Put rock groynes out there. Quit wasting money on all the silly stuff that is not going to work.

just the money alone spent recently for concrete barricades that have gotten washed away or sunk in the sand and the men and equipment has to be quite a lot and if more residences dont speak up they will just keep wasting tax payers money and if you thank this doesn't concern you it will when the next big storm hits and they shut the ferrys down which they never use to but from my understanding they do now YOU AND YOUR LOVE ONES WILL BE STUCK ON THE ISLAND TO FEND FOR YOURSELVES not a pretty thought

Yes something needs to be done. Even where the ferry landing is. Soon it will look like the road entering into high island.

My sister recently moved to this beautiful peninsula and I have visited her several times. I find it hard to believe that the highway dept for Texas has not done more to make this a safe passage for everyone. Please put this highway on the
priority list.

We recently moved to Crystal Beach Texas and are shocked by this road area and intersection on Hwy 87 during high tide and storms. This road needs to be fixed for the safety of everyone that travels through there and lives on the Peninsula... Thank you.

"Imminent danger" is an understatement. Folks died during Hurricane Ike as a result of the state's neglect of this highway

This could be one of the premier waterfront highways in the State of Texas, a potentially-tourist-$$$-resource which is so badly underutilized in the State of Texas.

This highway is not only used by those mentioned in the petition, it is used extensively as well by truck traffic coming from Houston through Galveston and headed to points in the lower eastern US.

It is time to fix the problem with a long term solution. We have been losing this roadway section by section for 30 years, and nothing but temporary "patches" has been done. I drive this roadway daily to work.
