Be Fair To Our Children!!

Our son has already had 2 split class years. The lack of communication, planning and foresight has really caught us by surprise.

Put the kids education first. Sounds like mismanagement again, this issue should have been dealt with months ago not when the kids are in school.

Very disappointed and frustrated with the decisions, and timing of the decisions!!!!

The one bright spot in a school year that already promised to be an extremely challenging one for our child was her excitement about the connections she had made with her teacher and the peers in her class. Despite those challenges, she was looking forward to the upcoming year, commenting that this was going to be the "best school year ever". Instead of a smile when I picked her up today, I saw tears, disappointment and resignation. It speaks volumes to me that my 11 year old child can't see how children following 2 different curriculums in a single class can learn all they need to. Given this is so clear to a child, it stands to reason that it should be clear to the adults making the decision to divide the grade 6 children amongst 4 different classes. Today's decision needs to be reversed and the existing classes need to be left as is.

Please consider the impact this is going to have our children, the children from two grade 6 classes split into 4 classes with 30 children in each class is one example of the displacement that is occurring in our school. All so we can drop a division and a teacher. My daughter came from school completely upset and in tears as she had transitioned into her new school year happily and settled into class with her new teacher, all to find out at the end of the week that she will have to pack up her desk and do it all over again. I believe that consistency, continuity and smaller class sizes for our children will benefit our children and school community. Children that will thrive and develop all skills to be well balanced contributing members of society....instead the ministry of education is concerned with the continued cutbacks and not quality education for our children. Please do what is right for our children, families and teachers!

We are extremely disappointed in the decision to combine the students in different grades thereby disrupting many classes after 1st week of school. This is not acceptable and unfair to all the kids.

I absolutely agree. It is despicable. I was never understood the idea of spited classes anyways. Public education in Canada is already with the "-" sign at front. I had a french tutor for my daughter twice a week last year, now I am thinking to have a math tutor as well. I feel like I pay way to much tax money for nothing.

It is with sorrow that we find out our children have been displaced. No thought for them or the teachers or the families. There were many tears today, many children afraid of what Monday will bring. Is it so hard to have one more teacher so these kids aren't given a lesser education. Is it worth taking a teacher who was already in place at our school to place in another school. Does our government not care about the well being of these students? Take back this decision, it is wrong. Now four classes instead of two for a grade six class? The challenge for a teacher to teach 30 in splits isn't even fair. Christy Clark, you have failed...again!

Dear decision makers, Please put our kids' education before anything else. Splitting one grade into 4 classes is just not acceptable. We beg for your reconsideration! Anxious parents.

This experience has been highly upsett

I am thoroughly disappointed that after the first week of school ours kids are being split up into not 2 but 4 different classes where they will have few peers from their age group as well as adjusting to a split class after they were already introduced and settling into a class of their own grade level. To do this without warning to the parents or kids is hugely disrespectful to all the families involved. Our kids were given no consideration and the drastic last minute splits into 3 or 4 classes will most likely lead into difficult classroom situations for many of these kids.

Please allow us to have one more teacher so we can have 2 complete grade six classes and NOT 4 splits. We have a very minimal number of boys for the grade six classes so by splitting them all we will only have 3-4 boys per class. This is not good for the teachers of the kids- a challenge to teach larger classes with more grades in one room. Linnea & Tarren Wolfe
