Don't see why this would be necessary. Too many breaks leads to a lot of 'starting over mentally' with school.

No need for a fall break, especially with scheduling of placement test etc.

I don't see one benefit of this new calendar. All negatives and no positives.

Do not agree with this policy.

The kids will be just getting back into the swing of things ... not sure if they need a break for some of the parents who think a cheap vacation is appealing to them at that time????

I like my kids in school when I work..to many breaks for kids turns them into cry baby snowflake protesters....they lose focus with to much time off....

I am concerned about the effect of this decision on students taking AP classes at BHS.

I feel very strongly that the fall break will be detrimental to all BHS students! Additionally, for AP and honors students, the break in learning combined with delayed assessment will create an irreversible decline in student understanding and performance.

It seems that most parents of kids who will be affected oppose this, and I can't disagree with their position at all. This needs a second look.

It isn't truly a break if you participate in Fall sports. Opponents are still in school. Practices and games continue. Those families won't get to travel so it's just "home days" for those kids when they could just be in school. 4 days maybe - 10 days, no thank you.

The current calendar already puts a strain on parents trying to find after school care. This new calendar will create more burden for parents, especially those who are single parents and/or have no relatives in the area to help out.

I worked at BHS for 25 years and BELIEVE me, the students do not need more time off, they need more time in the classroom. They are out early at least once a month and now another week? What are you thinking!!!!!

I really don't like this.

They will give them a break then pile on the homework and tests the week they get back because they don't have time to teach the whole curriculum. When taking AP and honors classes especially as a Junior they need the classroom time. Fall is an important time in colllege Decision and Test taking whether it be ACT or SAT. The kids need to stay in routine and keep there study habits. No reason for another break! There are already way to many early outs.

Early outs every week?? A fall break?? When do you expect the children to learn? How about those of us that have both spouses working?? But what do you expect from a school board that has shelled out $400,000 just to keep people quiet about what was going on at the high school.....

This is highly disruptive for many parents and students. Summer breaks are getting shorter which disrupt family time. I do not feel that this is a good thing. Why have a "fall break" when they already have a short break for Thanksgiving and then a long winter break a month after that. Then they have spring break. Fall is a time when kids are adjusting to a new class schedule and new teachers. I don't think adding a break is going to make the transition for students any easier. Many parents have weekly schedules that do not allow them to accommodate for all these early releases and it messes with a students routine. It seems as though no student or family was considered when the decision was made.

Wants to make sure there are enough academic days in the fall semester for AP classes, so students can perform successfully.

They already have enough days off before year end.
