I went through this when my children were little, and it was very difficult. I attended a college on regular school session days as well as my pre-schooler. My other child then attended all year round school and there was no consistency in our vacations and days off together as a family. It was hard for daycare as well. I would not recommend this.

Leave the calander alone. BHS doesn't want year round school and that's what this is pushing for.

Another large break is completely unnecessary. Class time is already cut short by pride time, and it would interrupt AP preparation, Fall sports, and every other class or activity taking place. Winter break takes place directly before finals, interrupting even more classes at the worst possible time. Another useless break isn't necessary in any way.

As a high school student, I feel that a fall break would be highly detrimental to myself and my peers. With the addition of pride time this year (which cuts down significantly on class time) and a later summer, teachers of AP classes are struggling to prepare students for AP tests, and, in my experience, are sometimes not able to teach everything before the tests. This is hardly the fault of the teachers, but leaves AP students at a disadvantage when they take the AP tests in hopes of gaining college credits. Although a fall break might seem like a nice idea, I have a hard time understanding why anyone would push for it while knowing that it would be greatly harmful to high school students.

I do not see a reason for a fall break when the district also has Thanksgiving and Christmas breaks immediately following. I vote to take away fall break and finish the school year one week earlier.

I think the calendar should be based on what is best for all students and not for the convenience of a few.

I am against extending the school year until June 7 to accommodate for a week long break at the end of October. If you want a fall break, make it a long weekend (4 days) at the quarter or trimester break!

Strongly oppose the Fall break. The majority of parents selected one of the other options. Good luck to our poor teachers when they have lost these kids by the end of May.

As an Education major and a previous teacher, the idea of a week long fall break along with weekly early releases is counterproductive to the very point of the education system which is to educate our kids! How are they supposed to learn anything when there are constant disruptions to the school schedule? If you want a year long schedule with regular breaks, that's fine but dont shotgun the "traditional" schedule full of holes that the parents have to fill!

I do not believe the fall break is necessary or in the best interest of our students. Why do we need a week long break when we have a 5 day for Thanksgiving a couple of weeks later and then a 2 week break for Christmas. The later ending of the 1st semester and later beginning to the 2nd semester will have a huge affect on the AP classes. Students that are involved in fall sports will not be able to use a fall break and it will be a major disruption to their routines as they head into tournament time.

Schools are deteriorating and not teaching or instilling any quality, or values to children anymore. It hasn't been that long ago that I graduated but the changes in teaching, schools, and children with no respectable leaders is sad. They need to be in school learning and being taught. Ipads are worthless, lack of formal note taking and organizational skills that was taught are gone with the acceptable poor behavior that some of this new generation of teachers exhibit. They are out of school more than they are in currently. Just look at early outs!

I am not in favor of this action and don't know why much information was provided before final. If this was based on the fact another school district has it doesn't mean we have to change to match them.
