BCSD parents/students against the new fall break (2017-18) calendar

I've had children in school since 1996. Why does this have to be a struggle. We as a Bhs community need to think of the children first. I sure wish we wouldn't enable children. And teach them what life is really about.

Iam against the new calendar proposed by the school administration. I have children in 3 different Bettendorf school. 1 in elementary, I in BMS and 1 at the high school. It is hard enough to run around to all the schools with things being changed and making harder on parents. The kids DO NOT need any more days off school for fall break. They need to be in school so they can learn properly. Please leave the calendar alone and stop with all these ridiculous days off.

Well now they've drafted a separate BHS calendar that ends two weeks before my other children in the district and takes away spring break for high schoolers, so thank you for that everyone.

This schedule for the high schoolers is worse than the last one! It's lovely for them to be out earlier, but they need a break in the spring, not two months into their year. Early out every Wednesday is disruptive to learning. This schedule will also make it difficult for families with children in multiple BCSD buildings. Pick one schedule and stick to it. It would be best for the high schoolers to spend more time IN class than out of school, but we need one district calendar.

I have three kids in this district and I am very much against this new schedule. It makes absolutely no sense to have this week off when none of the other area schools are off. This schedule is going to present a hardship to a lot of families who need to arrange childcare. My children are in fall sports, which means they won't really get a break. Things were just fine the way they were! Please go back to the old schedule!

Too close to winter holidays, no time off at work. I'll have to pay to have someone care for my 3 kids.

I am opposed to the 2017-2018 BCSD calendar! I feel it is not in the best interest of our children.

No fall break! It is difficult enough trying to find child care throughout the school year with all of the current days off and to add another week creates a greater challenge.
