Birkbeck college describes itself as "London's only specialist provider of evening higher education". The college is aware that a large proportion of its student body balance career commitments with academic workload. With just about two months to go until exams we still do not have concrete dates which we can book off work. The later the dates are released, the greater chance that our workplaces will refuse us the time off.
We would expect such a specialist school to realize that the setting of examination dates is a very important issue to the student body. We request that the school change its current examination date disclosure policy: dates should be confirmed much earlier on, preferably at the start of the academic year, or at least during the first term.

Exactly. How are we supposed to plan our lives when they don't even tell us when we have to show up? Total nightmare.
Ridiculous. My manager is already giving me grief about requesting time off without firm dates. Please sort this out asap.
Should have been sorted months ago. Honestly pathetic that we are scrambling like this.
Birkbeck promotes itself as being for working people but they clearly dont act like it. Need these dates now.

STRESSFUL. Hard enough passing these modules without having to fight my boss for time off at the last second.
