I am writing to express my opposition to the construction of a school or annex on the current
site of the Bayside Jewish Center (32nd Avenue between 203rd and 204th Streets).
The area immediately surrounding this proposed site is inundated with schools including: Bayside High School, World Journalism High School, Holy Cross High School, Sacred Heart School, the Lutheran School of Flushing, Blessed Sacrament School, the Lowell School, PS 41, PS 159, and IS 25. This site is two blocks from Bayside High School and directly across a narrow street from the Bayside High School Athletic Field.
The construction of any further schools in this vicinity and particularly at this site will exacerbate already congested traffic conditions and pose a direct threat to the safety of students in the existing schools while lowering the quality of life of the surrounding community.
Your assistance and intervention in cancelling any such proposed construction is requested.

Before building any more schools in Bayside, other nearby areas should be considered, as the infrastructure in is inadequate. Isn't there lots of land on the eastern side of Colleg Point (near and including the soon to be closed NY Times printing facility)?
There are other neighborhoods in more need of a high school. I do not oppose a new school but I do oppose a new high school at this location. If a new school was to be opened at this location it should be a middle school.
I live across the street from PS 159 and a block and a half away from the site of the proposed new High School. The area is already severely congested and this new school would only make it worse and it would put the lives of children in danger!!
32nd Avenue is not an appropriate location for a school due to the traffic that already exists in the area and the size of the lot which is too small to for the needs of a school. A school should be built in areas where there more space and local to the student population.
We do not need a school at this location. Although the city may need additional high school seats, this proposal at this location is NOT the solution.. The SCA needs earlier community involvement in its site selection process --and greater transparency in its procedures.
I live a few blocks away and I oppose this construction. We already have too many schools in a three block radius. I'm sure in this entire queens district there is somewhere else to build this High SChool.
I am opposed to another school in this area. Please consider another more practical use and location. An honest way to consider this, is to actually listen to your constituents directly. Thank you, respectfully.

The Board of Ed should utilize the empty seats in other district schools before any discussion of ANOTHER school being built in our neighborhood. Our district is operating at well over 100% capacity while there are seats available elsewhere.
