The way this rezoning was brought to clients of mine who would be negatively affected by this change was irresponsible and quite disturbing. I've been selling homes in MN for the past 12 years and understand the significance and importance of school districts to people who are determining where they want to live and raise their family. School districts/zoning play a significant role in this decision-making process and a change in zoning should not be taken lightly. Those who have chosen their homes based on the current schools servicing their address should not be forced to make a change in their child(ren)'s schooling. This is unfair to many families and property owners as a change would significantly reduce their home values and force some families who have the financial wherewithall to move in order to keep their family in the desired school district. I am absolutely against this proposed rezoning idea, from not only a business standpoint, but also as a stance to protect those clients whom I have assisted with finding their home in this specific school district due to its desireability.

If this decision is made then families that were in the district before the changes should be able to open enroll and be accepted with no problem.

As a homeowner in this district I strongly disagree with this decision to rezone area 284.

This is not a good decision. maybe if the two schools were close to the same level of excellence I would understand but Oak View is not nearly as good as Basswood.

My daughter and son-in-law will soon be moving into their new home in the reasoning area. The schools their children would attend played a big part in their decision of where they wanted their children to grow up.

All options need to be considered in the rezoning issue. I am against the rezoning of Basswood Elementary!

It would be a huge disappointment if the boundaries changed. We moved here for the schools. We just moved into our new home 6 months ago and have little kids. Please leave boundaries as they were when we chose this neighborhood!

we need to keep the line the way it is, it's very important to the children that we don't disrupt where they're currently learning.

Boundary changes should only be a last resort. We buy our homes so our children can go to certain schools. It is unfair to disrupt so many families' lives when other options haven't been discussed yet.

I went to basswood, live in area 284 and would be ashamed for the parents who had to sent there kids from such a good school to one with such a terrible rating.

The simple solution is to close all open enrollment! This was an issue 5 years ago, when boundaries were changed due to overcrowding. Existing families understandably open enrolled, but in recent years I have seen families from all over the district migrate to Basswood. It is unfair to move the 284 taxpayers to allow for open enrollment.

We purchased our home on the basis that it zoned for Basswood Elementary. We never received any notification - no letter - until an email was sent out today. This is extremely unfair especially since there are other alternatives. Why is open enrollment still allowed if there is an overcrowding issue? Those who live in the district should be given preference.
