The school board owes it to residents, families and students to not rezone.

Shameful! I think Lori Swanson should be made aware of this.

I am still 100% in favor of this petition, however, the comments about "implementing pods" or "allowing overcrowding for one year" are very concerning to me. As the parent of an upcoming 5th grade who could potentially lose her much anticipated last year at the elementary level, a larger class size is not acceptable. Historically at BW, 6th grade classes have maintained reasonable class sizes. This allowed for a lot of personal academic and emotional attention, which is a nice way to end the students' elementary school career. To deprive them of this to appease open enrollment advocates is unfair.

My husband and I purchased our home in the Hills of Elm Creek neighborhood about 2 years ago based on the current school boundaries. We now have a newborn that we had hoped would attend Basswood Elementary and Maple Grove Senior High as we know that these are great schools. The decision to realign the boundaries is extremely disappointing not only because our child may not have the opportunity to attend the schools that we chose based on the location in which we purchased our home but also because of the negative impact this decision will have on our property value.

Do not re-zone. Stop open enrollment to Basswood and let those who live in the boundary attend.

Constantly changing school boundaries erodes the value of the real estate that pays for our schools.

Five months ago, we moved to MN from out of state. We choose Maple Grove and the Hills of Elm Creek after several months of searching for a great neighborhood with outstanding SCHOOLS to aid us when we need to resell. We bought a 5 bedroom home with top rated schools specifically to help us when we have to sell the house even though all of our children are grown and no longer live at home. As a former first grade teacher , I know how important top ranked neighborhood schools are and how a school can help sell your home. Our real estate agent helped us choose our current home with the schools as one of our top priorities. Our neighbors are as outstanding as the schools their children currently attend . How sad to transport great students out of their current great neighborhood schools.

My job requires frequent relocation. Although we do not have children in Basswood, this rezoning will devalue our home and make it more difficult to sell! We worked extensively with Edina Realty to put us in an excellent school district for resale, and this rezone will hurt us when we have to relocate.

This is unfair to the children and will negatively impact the growth of advanced readers.

I live in Lake Camelot. If the school is crowded, stop open enrollment. Priority should go to people of bought homes within the existing boundaries.

There surely are more sensible alternatives including reducing the open enrollment numbers. Preference should be given to residents and especially to those who are in established neighborhoods. What can possibly justify this proposal? Have all alternatives been explored? It doesn't look like it. Property values in the area will drop if this action is taken--how will affected homeowners be compensated? They won't, of course. They'll lose all around.

Home owners in new developments and open enrolled students should not be given priority over our students who reside in area 284. We have lived and paid taxes in the Osseo district for ten years. We paid for full day Kindergarten at Basswood while full day Kindergarten was free in other districts. Switching to Oak View would require us to switch before & after school care / daycare for both our school age child and our preschooler because the only Osseo school our current daycare provides transportation to is Basswood. Most importantly switching to an under performing school is absolutely unacceptable. We will move out of the district before we will send our children to an under performing school.

This is unfair to the residents of 284. New home owners in developments and open enrollment should not be given priority over district residents already enrolled.
