Huntsville/Madison couldn't maintain a minor league ball team the first time around, why should the city think this will be different?

Huntsville city, with a population 4.5 times larger than Madison, and a much larger business population has no use for Joe Davis stadium. Huntsville city even had plans in 2015 to demolish Joe Davis. Why would the much smaller, and land locked, Madison city ever consider such a large use of funds and real estate for a baseball stadium that will be woefully underused and incredibly expensive (Joe Davis was built for $17.3M in 2017 dollars).
These funds would be much better used expanding the school system to support the possibly 100s/1000s of new students that might live in the Town Madison development.
I will second a previous comment to ensure that any sitting members of the Madison city council in support of this plan are removed from their positional at the earliest opportunity.
I also promise that I have no desire to, and no plans to ever attend a baseball game if this stadium is built.

Be assured of this:
The city council and mayor have acted capriciously and wontonly and it is duly noted. The arrogance of approving deal before doing any of the things that a responsible city leadership would and should do speaks volumes.
If this project goes forward and millions is borrowed to do it, putting the city in debt for 30 years or more and at the expense of the school system that desperately needs money for new schools and their overcrowding, the I will work tirelessly and endlessly to gather forces (other voters and volunteers) to absolutely guarantee that this mayor and not a single sitting council member are never reelected.
If they go forward with this deal, they must go.
And everyone that signs this petition seriously needs to show up Monday night at the second public hearing (Madison City Hall, Feb 12, 2018 at 6PM and speak for the 3 minutes allotted. Make a difference, be present, speak out, be heard.

For 15+ years, the City did not have resources to maintain the ball fields at Palmer Park properly when Coach Finley was coaching there and not while he was Mayor the first time, but now Mayor Finley want to us to finance $46M+ for minor league stadium? It's certainly not about baseball for our kids. Someone else will make a lot of money from this project and we will pay the bill. It's also shameful that the council did not call for a city-wide vote on such a large commitment.

I drive on Slaughter Road every day, I’ll go to a ball game once a year.
We need roads not an Elephant.
I vote NO TAX money for baseball.

There weren't enough baseball fans to fill Joe Davis Stadium consistently during any season. Schools and roads are needed more.

Many residents are against this stadium, we do not need it and do not want it. Too many risks with this proposed project.

Why should the Mayor and City Council be able to commit a minimum of $46M to a Ball Stadium and no commitment for a $20M immediate school expansion? Please sign this petition to afford the Citizens of Madison an opportunity to vote yes/no to this major ($46M) expenditure.

Madison school administration is pleading for 20 million for immediate school expansion. Why spend 50 mil we don’t have on a ball stadium that we know will fail?
