Baseball Stadium in the City of Madison - No Donations Required

The citizens of Madison are very aware of the neglected streets and over-crowding potential in our schools. This situation will not be resolved by gifting an organization/business of Madison's limited wealth. You are taking a gamble that barely has the potential of reimbursing us over several years, much less bringing in new revenue! Then you plan on digging in my pocket for new schools to meet the needs of our expansion into Limestone county. Another gamble that bought nothing but expenditures and no revenue. What happened to the sales taxes? Did you reallocate that money?

Mr. Tucker While I have from time to time disagreed strongly with the Mayor and the City Council, I have never had any doubt that they are men and women of integrity and honor. To imply otherwise without evidence is unfair and does not belong in this debate. Madison City should focus on improving the recreational facilities of its residents, rather than funding a commercial (probably money loosing) enterprise like minor league baseball. Can't we learn from Huntsville's experience ?

No baseball field

I would love a baseball team in Madison, but the city simply cannot afford this. Our city council should not spend this much money without giving the voters an opportunity to voice their opinion in a referendum.

How much of our money are we going to be giving to these developers? Put it to a vote. Has anyone vetted the city council for *gifts* ahead of this decision?

We do not need baseball in Madison. We need old Madison pike widen to 4 lanes all the way to Kroger’s.

Concerned that the citizens of Madison whose tax money is being used on a project that they have no voice in! With such a great deal of money going to one project, when our roads and infrastructure are in greater need.

Huntsville with all their future plans and current developments didn't pursue this....that's a red flag. Madison is attempting to bail out the floundering town Madison development and hosing the residents next to the development in the process.

While a stadium would be nice, our infrastructure suffers greatly. As we continue building new home developments, we lack improvements to our roads and schools. This is where the funds need to be put in place. Most citizens in Madison would agree. The City Council should invest in the infrastructure of Madison as priority. We really do not need any more commercial and retail Real Estate sitting like eye sores. This issue should be put to a vote for Madison residents!

We should be given the chance to vote on something this big, since we have to pay for it. Given a choice, I would rather have money for schools and roads.

There are many meaningful projects for the city to spend its money on.e.g., roads, schools, new water sources. Let the voter decide not the city council. This decision is too important to leave this to the council and the mayor.

This has to be the dumbest idea MADISON has thought of . We are a city in need of new elementary, middle and high schools and yet how to fund them comes down to building a Baseball field to allow infrastructure to come to Madison ? People this isn’t Field of Dreams . This is not a disgust ion where “If you build it , they will come “.

We’re mad that our city has moved forward on this project despite all the protest and evidence it’s a bad idea.

Bob Jones stadium failed for lack of interest and a following of a Double-A team. Why repeat the same mistake; learn from it!

Do not support a sports complex recently approved by the mayor and Madison City Council. The location is entirely inappropriate.

The residents of Madison City as well as those in the affected Huntsville area should be allowed to have a vote.
