The zoning measure not only appears to threaten the Catholic mission of the school but also its ability to recruit a diverse student body, which is one of the school's greatest strengths.

Absolutely stunned MOE are making stipulations on what the foundations of the catholic schools stand for. Plse dont let zoning destroy the character and acceptance of a school whose emphasis is on faith not descrimination on where you live.

Education gives people the opportunity to exceed the circumstances that they were born into and shape their own future. One heart and one mind in the heart of Jesus - Baradene fosters the diversity of community united through strong faith and a desire to make a difference in a world layered with inequality. Zoning would destroy the schools' core values

Having a Catholic school is about giving the opportunity of a good education to anyone no matter where they live or where they come from. It is about preserving the Catholic traditions that mean so much to those who believe, by zoning it would make the school just like any other. what make it special is it's diversity and faith. dosen't matter what your socioeconomic status is!

The Ministry of Education appears to have a deeper agenda here. If we allow them to begin forcing special character schools to introduce zoning for schools such as Baradene, others will follow. There is no good reason for this zoning initiative beyond satisfying the needs of Wellington bureaucrats for bringing Catholic schools in line with state policy. We must stop them if we can.

Wasn't the whole point of the Sacred Heart Society set up by Sophie Barat in France, to bring education to girls and women that were less fortunate and unable to afford it? If you make Baradene mostly in zone, within a zone that is mostly rich and affluent, you are taking away the very heart of what makes this school what it was.

As an alumna, I don't believe a residential address should depict the school one can attend. Our Sacred Heart goals in particular “Building a community as a Christian value” illustrate the unique diversity of the school and it’s character, which we should hold onto.

As a student attending Baradene at the moment and living out South Aukland it devastates me that if I enrolled for next year I wouldn't be able to attend because Baradene is being zoned, schools like this give girls out of Remuera like South Auckland opportunities, I strongly think this isn't right!

The fact that there are people from all corners of Auckland there, all walks of life, different family make-ups and backgrounds makes this school a reflection of society and the real new zealand... it's what made girls worldly, compassionate real girls

This is a catholic school as catholic values include appreciating diversity. It if becomes zoned it will turn into a school where only people who live in rich suburbs can attend. last time i checked this wasn't a catholic value..
