Do you really think that humans are stupid enough to be unable to distinguish fictional violence from real violence? We've put people on the moon for god's sake. MRI scans of children's brains show that fictional and real violence are handled by entirely different sectors of the brain. Also, time spent playing "violent" games had been shown to reduce cortisol (stress hormone) in both children and adults. People who play such games tend to be less violent as they can vent their anger and stress into something non-destructive. Next time you make a petition, make sure it is grounded in actual, objective research instead of a subjective dislike or opinion.

Tell me, what evidence do you have to prove this? Can I have the name of the Doctor/Professor whose studies back your opinion?

While I agree that science defeats all arguments against fictional violence, people will not take you seriously if you directly insult them.

As I tell all people on this topic, science proves that virtual violence has no negative consequences on a person's character. Your argument is entirely based on subjective, non-scientific opinionated reasoning, provides no real evidence and is greatly exaggerated. If you research actual scientific studies on the way that the human brain processes real/fake violence, you will discover that the brain can indeed tell the difference between the two. I do agree that we as a society should sow good seeds for the future, but this topic has little to do with it.

Think about this for just one second. If someone had the choice between committing a real crime, hurting real people, running from real cops with real guns and a real risk of dying, and the choice to do it all in a video game except with no consequences for them or anyone else, which one sounds more appealing? Which would they choose? Would you rather have someone actually rob your house or do it in a video game where no real people are impacted?

Or, like all people whiteout an existing mental illness, they will just buy a new game to play. Plus, 8.5% of the cost of the game goes to the government to pay for things like roads, police officers' salaries, and even your Medicare benifits.

The anecdote from your childhood does not constitute a thorough study of child psychology. I would advise you to inform yourself about the differences in the way the brain actually processes fiction vs fact.

Most people are rational. However, there are some who are ENCOURAGED to use realistic, violent video games as a 'training exercise' for the real thing, say using guns / samurai swords etc. Whatever the reason, there are much better ways to channel people's frustration using games which do not glamorise VIOLENCE in any way. I don't mean the old fashioned games which kill hundreds of imaginary 'aliens' but those 3D games when you go on a killing spree.

Call me the devil's advocate but I have absolutely no idea which self-imagined concern, which advertisement, which group of relatives or friends, or even which government is behind this completely absurd ideology, but let me tell you, this is not the first time this has come up. You say violent video games cause violence in reality. Isn't it a bit like running out of people and factors to blame and blaming recreational activities instead for all the school shootings done by mentally disturbed children? You really had to stop at videogames? How about half those children came from psychological institutions where they ESPECIALLLY don't let you play ANY game. I'd say that's what drove them over the edge. Aside from that, GTA V, and any GTA franchise game for that matter, has a rating called TEEN (16+). Why does it have this rating honorably provided to it by the generous people at ESRB, may you ask? It's because that's the intended age group they're providing the game for, keeping in mind the wants, needs and general mindset of that PARTICULAR age group. What sort of a parent are you if you let your 11 year old play a game with violence, explicit content and possibly nudity? Such games, for 16 year olds and those above, do not incite this deep wanting to take a gun and start shooting at someone. Every 16 year old has the level of maturity and understanding to know that killing another fellow being is no joke. Furthermore, this only teaches them the value of obeying the rules, the value of legal carry, the cost of harming life. Will a 11 year old learn these values? HELL NO, he'll probably grab his BB gun and put a bullet in his neighbor's head! Again, nobody will read this seriously, because all the people who probably read this are parents way beyond my age, and who apparently "know what's best for me", but let me ask you, dear parents, do you smoke?
