We the undersigned support Bangladesh’s 50,000 plus highly-skilled freelancers in their bid to have a choice in how they get paid.
Having recently won the ODesk.com contractor appreciation event, and with Dhaka being one of only four cities in the world selected for this prestigious and telling distinction, Bangladesh’s freelancers want to celebrate that recognition with acknowledgement that there need to be alternatives for their compensation options, alternatives where they can keep more of their earnings.
With the current model, more of their earnings go to fees and conversions rather than into their pocket, which begs the question -Who is really getting paid for what these freelancers earn?
We ask that you, the best and most highly-utilized freelance gateways - ODesk.com, Freelancer.com, Elance.com, and Guru.com – to offer alternative payment remittance services like AlertPAY who will provide timely and significantly lower cost payments to Bangladesh’s freelancers.
Doing so will not only improve the personal wealth of the individual Freelancer, but will bolster the emerging economy of Bangladesh.
Seeing this momentum grow reminds me of the countless nights my friends spend working for payments that never fully reach their pockets. It feels incredible to see so many people acknowledge that these talented individuals deserve to keep the money they actually earn.

One hundred people have signed on to fight for the fair pay my friends back in Dhaka deserve. Seeing this number grow feels like a real step toward keeping more of their hard-earned money in their own pockets.

I see my fellow freelancers struggling to keep their hard earned money after these high platform fees. We are almost at one hundred signatures so please send this link to your colleagues right now. We must reach this mark to prove these gateways that we deserve better payment options.

Ridiculous how much we lose on every single payment. Direct bank transfers are too slow and way too expensive.

The fees are killing us. We work so hard and half of it just disappears into banking charges. Needs to change now.
