Whitney Wells, the 10-year-old girl from St. Joseph who gave Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes a bracelet he wears every game, lost her battle with a brain tumor, according to a Facebook post from her family.
“We are not yet at a place to have nor say the appropriate words regarding the loss of our beautiful girl,” the family said late Monday night in the Facebook group Fight for Whitney. “We do want to say thank you to everyone for reaching out. Life is hard but you are easing the pain.”
In honor of Whitney Wells amazing battle and courage, the undersigned request the Kansas City Chiefs organization invite her family to bang the Arrowhead drum before the 2019 Divisional home game. This is providing her family would be willing to participate.

As someone who has had the incredible honor of beating the drum at Arrowhead, what I've accomplished is nothing compared to what Jesse has in his young life. I can't think of anyone more deserving than Jesse to get to be the Spirit Leader in honor of his sister.
This is the Wells second child they’ve lost. Let’s give their surviving son something to look forward to and remember. Some happiness is due to this sweet and inspirational family who lost their precious gift, Miss Whitney❤️
I am Whitney’s aunt. The pain my sister and Scott have gone thru. Not one child but losing two. Keep our girl spirit going. Brighten a day for them. They deserve it.
Mrs. Tara Wells is the principal at the grade school that my kids attend. Ms. Whitney's funeral was today, January 2nd. The church was packed. What a way to honor her and Whitney's Warriors, and having Mr. and Mrs. Wells bang the drum at thw divional playoff game at Arrowhead Stadium, here in Chiefs Kingdom.
Whitney was and will always be part of the Chiefs Kingdom. She made the bracelet that Patrick is wearing. No child should die from cancer. Please honor her memory of allowing the parents to bang the drum.

She was Mahomes extra push during the games with that bracelet. Her family deserves the honor to send her spirit off with the drum beat she knew so well. Hope,love and faith has given her angel wings to fly to new heights and our prayers are with her family during this time.
