An elitist way to not actully deal with anything. It's age-ist and species-ist as well. Any consideration go into younger professionals or tenants, high school kids, toddlers, dogs, birds...or me ,who's in my 60s and can hear it? No, apparently not.

I have been lobbying against these speakers for years. They send the message that downtown business owners don't want young professionals working or shopping in the downtown core. They also speak to an underlying problem which is an anti-youth attitude which has been escalating downtown ever since Beignets closed.

These devices can harm people who have certain neurological or medical conditions. I guess I won't be visiting downtown until this ban goes into effect.

Even if you don't look at how discriminatory this is towards kids and teens, these devices also harm some adults too. If I'm around one of these for more than just a tiny bit, I get a debilitating migraine that makes me unable to drive or even function and that can be dangerous.
All these devices are doing is harming people with sensitive hearing.

These devices can cause permanent damage to the ears of infants and young children who are incapable of escaping them. Their parents will not know why they are crying and will stop to try to figure it out, compounding the damage. These Spokane devices were measured at dangerous decibel levels this past year. Ban them!
