People keep letting off fireworks far past the guyfawkes date, its now the 16th of Jan 2016, and someone keeps letting them off, which keeps our 4 month old baby awake

Its 15th Jan 2016 at 10.45pm and the neighbours are at it again, letting off their loudest fireworks while drinking booze. Once again waking my babies and scaring our dog - every weekend since they went on sale! My friends husband is a volunteer fireman and dreads guyfawks as he wont get any sleep for weeks, putting out idiots fires. Yes its a family tradition but it doesn't get dark until 9pm which is too late for the littlies on a school night anyway!! And then you see people who have no money buying 6 of the $300 fireworks boxes!! Come on NZ, just ban it for good.

It is the 11th Jan 2016 10 pm I have just had fireworks let off by people over my back fence they have scared my cat which I can't find. she ran out the cat door terrified I wasn't even expecting it The 2 young children next door have woken up with a fright crying. I shouted at the people letting off the fireworks to stop they just laughed and kept letting them off. I am over it. Noise control can't do anything and the police can't do anything as no law is being broken.THIS HAS TO STOP. I would just like to thank Ruth Dyson and the committee who could have stopped all this once and for all by "BANNING PUBLIC SALE OF FIREWORKS" but chose not to

I agree because most people haven't a clue how to handle them and if they do they respect what they are intended for.

It is the 29th of November and we still have fireworks going off around the neighbourhood at all hours of the night! Especially the week-ends. We have kids and it wakes them. This is ridiculous!

Please ban fireworks,I don't mind professional displays.but every night since November 5th is inconsiderate for families with little kids and the elderly with the loud bangs can be frightening for those living alone, not to mention how scary it is for animals.

Sparklers are fun for kids but I think the big boom ones should be left for professional displays

every year animals get stressed and people loose sleep from constant noise of fireworks, not to mention damage done from inconsiderate people, not just on guyforks day but fireworks been let off weeks sometimes a month after guyforks day, I would like a ban on private sale of fireworks and only have public firworks displays done by proffessionals. if there isn't a ban on private sales then at least make it illegial to have fireworks lit on any other day apart from new years and and guyforks day.

Please ban firesworks, every night since Nov 5 fireworks go off until late, people don't think of all the families with kids and little babies (like us) who are kept up because of them. Puplic displays are a great idea, fireworks are for Nov 5.......NOT Nov 6,7,8,9 etc..etc... I dread Nov 5 every year!!

I would like to add my name to ban the use of fireworks for private use in New Zealand. Irresponsible use of fireworks for private use is a danger to both humans and animals, and even the responsible use of fireworks terrifies animals and has the potential to injure or even kill these animals as a result of the fear that they experience. The use of fireworks is outdated and causes pain and distress each and every year. Its just not worth it. Please ban their private use.

A Ban is well overdue. If Nick Smith lived in my area I'm sure he would raise the issue with other politicians!

The annoying thing is it's not just one night. It goes on for weeks after as people save them up. Ban them. Dangerous. Costly to the country on ACC claims.
