Mass shootings are on the rise in the USA and a great step to atleast slow the pace of these shootings is to ban the legal sale of assault weapons. It's an epidemic and our government doesn't care, show that you do.

Enough is enough. My kids have to do active shooter drills at school and they are only 8. This is crazy.

Assault rifles are dangerous weapons that do not belong on city streets. Many of the weapons used in these mass causalities were originally created for wars like World War II and Vietnam and were never intended to be used on civilians in the country. The weapon, unlike many other firearms, allows a shooter an immense amount of power and a significant amount of rounds to fire (it can hold nearly 800 rounds). However, in the past these weapons were used by skilled shooters, most of whom were serving in the nation's armed forces. Now, on the other hand, this weapon's availability means that thugs and criminals have a great amount of opportunity to kill innocent civilians and police officers, as they can wreck havoc on civilian life. This fact infuriates civilians like me who have tried desperately to research the causes of widespread destruction. It is unfortunate that my research often impeded on my own constitutional right to free speech, as the NRA has such a strong control on the information available to the public that it makes research difficult. However, studies through Harvard University continuously seem to indicate that owning firearms is quite dangerous. It is important to note that during the rebuttal of these charges through the Second Amendment that the Second Amendment was written at a time of a home war (the Revolution) and was written with the intention of keeping Americans safe from the British. While these claims are disputed, it is widely known that the founders got rid of the Articles of Confederation for the Constitution. One of the Constitution's chief concern was giving the government enough power to tax, regulate commerce and establish an army. Therefore, it stands to reason that the interpretation of the 2nd Amendment is grossly distorted in the court's current view. The 2nd Amendment gives Americans the right to have a military, not to individually impede on other citizens rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Stop the in
