It's about time to ban Styrofoam! We should also ban all plastic straws and replace them with paper.

I am a resident of Albany County and am asking you to do what you can to reduce Styrofoam usage by expanding the ban to include take-out food and drinks in the county.

My class wrote letters 2 years ago and convinced Dave Swift to stop using styrofoam! We all can do it together!

Even McDonald's gave up styrofoam years ago! Surely Albany can be more progressive and find better solutions to food storage than styrofoam!!! Thank you!

Please stand up to the plastics lobby bullies who want to pollute our water and land for their profits, and then make us taxpayers clean up after them. According to a March 2018 study from OrbMedia.org and SUNY Fredonia, 93% of bottled water worldwide contains an average of 325 particles of plastic per liter. Of that, 11% is polystyrene aka Styrofoam. Banning it from all food service establishments is a step in the right direction and will serve as an example to other communities.

It's about time! Styrene is a carcinogen with estrogenic properties which has been found along with parabens in excised breast cancer tumor tissue at the University of Reading in England. It lines disposable paper coffee and soup containers as well as lining food cans. It especially leaches out into acidic foods and beverages such as Italian food and coffee.

Styrofoam has had it day. It is now time to find a way that is more responsive to caring for our planet.
Styrofoam not only adds to landfills,
it also get into the oceans and small particles are eaten by fish and get into the food chain and then we ingest it without knowing.
