This ban is long overdue. The obvious followup message to takeout establishments is to use containers made of RECYCLED cardboard or paper.

I applaud the Albany County Legislature for being proactive on this issue. Styrofoam is toxic in its manufacture and its disposal. It takes up valuable landfill space. Litter moves downstream and poisons waterfowl. Ultimately it all comes back in the food chain to poison us. There are plenty of viable alternatives to styrofoam. Thank you.

I was at the Merry Monk the other night and took home my leftovers in a compostable paper container. It worked great! The replacement of Styrofoam is an easy problem to solve!

There are plenty of alternatives to Styrofoam. There is no excuse for continuing to use this product so vile and unhealthy to all life.

Hi, I am totally disgusted with pollution - but here we have the pollution equivalent of a the elusive butterfly! Yes, the foamy molecules can get into anything from a bird's throat to a baby 's nostrils. Clamp down on this destructive nuisance as we have the technical chemistry labs that can . Scipio - - L.A. This will help keep toxic material out of the landfill and litter out of our community, and it encourages compostable and recyclable alternatives!

All you have to do is think about the garbage dump in the Pacific.
