Plenty of better alternatives! Hotel chains: too many of your hotels are still using styrofoams cups for your free breakfasts. Please stop!

We all need to be willing to pay a few cents more at these restaurants to cover costs of ecologically friendly packaging. The long term costs of not doing this are far greater.

Styrofoam is a danger to our planet because of how long it takes to break down. This is a known fact upon which we need to pay attention and do something about, i.e. no longer use styrofoam. I urge our elected officials to pass the legislation banning its use, and thank you in advance for taking a stand in support of the health of our children and the planet.

It's about time! Styrofoam does not biodegrade posing water and environmental pollution problems. It also leaches chemicals into food when it's microwaved and that poses a health threat.

Urge you to ban Styrofoam. It harms the environment and benefits no one.

We have excellent single stream recycling in most localities in Albany County and this includes plastic water bottles. The best thing however, is not to use them at all as you noted. Use reusable containers and water filters. I hope someone will work on banning the sale of bottled water but that is not part of this particular effort. Thanks for your thoughts and your concern.

School districts around the county fall under different regulations. Anyone willing to work on the issue of banning polystyrene (Styrofoam) from the schools should aim their efforts at the Albany City School District. Bethlehem School District already brought in all reusable trays and table ware and has a major recycling and composting program. If anyone wants to work on this issue, I will be happy to give some support and try to help you with a tour of the great stuff already going on in Bethlehem. Contact me at [email protected]

There is no need to use styrofoam anywhere and may pose real health risks.

Great work.....please include plastic water bottles; these too, are a disaster for our environment....encourage water filters and stainless or glass containers. These also lead to taking water from sources that do not belong to the bottling companies.

Does this include Albany City Schools? They serve all meals on styrofoam trays.
