Styrofoam needs to be banished. There are more options than ever for holding foods. Why continue using & manufacturing this earth distroying product.

Long Overdue. Ban them in ALL restaurants and fast-food franchises. next should be plastic bags---we should encourage reusable bags.

The school district works under different guidelines so this ban would not impact them. Mark Warford led the way and got polystyrene trays out of the middle school--a great start. We can talk to Mark and see if we can help spread this effort to the other schools. Best bet however, is to find a teacher or two in the other schools who will work with Mark to get things started there. Let me know if you have any ideas.

Please make sure the ban in in school as well as schools are using millions of styrofoam trays -the number is probably much higher and it needs to stop. We all have an obligation to protect the world that we live in.

Cities that have already banned Styrofoam have shown that this new law will not be a burden on Albany businesses. Please pass this law.

Banning sturofoam leaves plenty of choices for restauranteers in the way of take out containers. It takes millions of years for styrofoam to decompose, but it off-gasses toxins into the sea or soil until it is gone. It is often found in litter, is eaten by animals, and can kill them.
There are new and wonderful technologies being produced today, such as using fungi to produce disposable products like containers and cups. They are more expensive because they are new, but if forced to look for alternatives, some companies may volunteer to support these great new inventions. In time and with support, they will become as cheap to produce and purchase as styrofoam is today.
Necessity is the mother of invention. If citizen action is needed to push humanity toward safer and better options for these disposable products, then our legislature must be part of that process.

We must stop polluting our environment with styrofoam! I will be at the 1/9/17 meeting to be sure! Next up on the agenda should be banning all ..... plastic bags!
