Long overdue! Essential for the health of our AK citizens. Does this bill include provisions to abolish use of styrofoam containers in school food services and any community food-serving gathering- potlucks, church socials, etc?

There is NO reason to use plastic food contaminating containers, when biodegradable materials are so readily available. Please ban the use of all plastic food containers.

This would be a huge step towards supporting rural communities. Our landfills are overrun and we have minimal, if any, recycling options.

There is no reason to continue using these outdated and unhealthy products when numerous cheap and comparable products are available. In our remote communities landfill space is at a premium and unnecessary waste from styrofoam shortens their lifespan and degrades the surrounding environment.

There are sadly so many contaminants already present in our soil, water, air, food, & bodies. Eliminating styrofoam containers is a small but mighty step in reducing transmission of harmful chemicals into our food and bodies. Styrofoam also doesn’t break down and creates waste and environmental contamination. Banning styrofoam containers would not only help our bodies, but help our local environment, reduce waste piling up in our landfills, and save money in the long term.

So many other countries and states have made this effort, we should do the same and move with the times instead of being stuck in the past with oil based food packaging. Thank you for creating this House Bill.

This is a much needed step. Alternative materials exist. The time to act was yeseterday, next best is now.

It's time to prioritize recyclable and compostable materials for our environment.

This is a step in the right direction to hold restaurants accountable and solve our waste issues with more sustainable solutions

No more styrofoam! This is known to be toxic to humans and other animals. I support the local businesses who have transitioned to paper. They have proven that it can be done. I am willing to pay more for take out food if they are not using styrofoam.

An easy intervention to improve the health of our lands and people, as well as avoid filling up our limited landfill, is to move from styrofoam to biodegradable or compostable food service ware. These are much better options for our state!

I worked at regional for years and the amount of styrofoam they threw away was absolutely horrifying. Please ban styrofoam, it’s terrible for Alaska.

We still use styrofoam? Really?

We don’t need this stuff filling our landfills!

Anchorage Alaska has a landfill that has a shrinking life span. Use of items that cannot naturally break down would assist with keeping trash from the landfill.

Consumers should talk with their money. We have to stop supporting businesses that still use reckless products like polystyrene and force them to change.
