Knowledge is our greatest ally.
Spurred by the #MeToo #TimesUp
#BlackLivesMatter and countless other movements, the abused, oppressed
and disenfranchised are finding their voice and banding together to fight for their right to
better representation, visibility and inclusion but most importantly, safety.
Local
music festival, Rocking The Daisies made a groundbreaking move in
South Africa recently with the creation of a "Ladies Camp" at their forthcoming event. This is a camping area that aims to provide a safe space for
all women and women-identifying individuals to seek refuge throughout
the event.
However, this forward-thinking move has unfortunately been overshadowed by their
decision to book a band from Australia called Sticky Fingers. The
frontman of this band, Dylan Frost, has been involved in countless
incidences of racism, aggression and abusive behaviour towards womxn. In light of these allegations, festivals around the world have cancelled their upcoming performances, the
band has been blacklisted by Triple J in Australia and multiple
feature articles have been written about why promoters cannot be
complicit in booking and supporting this band.
This
petition is a call for awareness about this band and their frontman,
and to appeal to Rocking The Daisies to remove them both from the
main festival and from headlining a second event in Johannesburg on
the same weekend.
Please
sign the petition and share it with those who will do the same.

The facts are clear. This act SHOULD NOT be allowed to play at RTD this year. Especially in a country when female violence and bigotry is so prevelent
