I am concerned about the effect that powdered alcohol will have in my community.Currently, alcohol is the leading drug problem among youth and adults. Research supports that when alcohol access increases the severity of problems also increase. I am concerned thatpowdered alcohol'sportability will make it easy to hide in book bags, school lockers, transport to school and community events. I am concerned that if powdered alcohol reaches the market there is a great potential for an increased number of serious injuries, industrial accidents, motor vehicle accidents and alcohol poisoningin youth and adults. I am concerned that youth will begin snorting powdered alcohol because they are already snorting pixie sticks and other controlled substances. I am concerned that the availability of powdered alcohol will lead to an increase in alcohol-related injuries and deaths. I am urging you to support a ban on powdered alcohol. Thank you for your consideration.

Updates

December 13, 2014

The growth of this petition has reached a level that warrants formal notification to state legislators. I am currently drafting a letter to summarize these concerns for the upcoming committee review. Expect an update on their response once the formal submission process is complete.

Ohio is a responsible state and wants to keep our communities safe and healthy. We want people to make healthy choices in every stage of life and promote a cultural norm of health and wellness. When there is easy access and availability of products, people are more likely to overconsume.

RIDICULOUS product. we have enough problems with underage drinking already without making it portable and easy to sneak into schools. BAN IT.

i am 14 years old. and this kind of thing does not need to be out in our world. it is something that other kids can preassure other kids to do.
