Foxhunting, which is riding a horse into the wilds followed by a pack of hounds for the purpose of hunting foxes, is legal in Canada.
It may seem just like any type of hunting, but Foxhunting is especially cruel. The fox is chased for sport, which terrifies the animal all for the sake of enjoyment for the hunter. The hunters try to prolong the chase simply for the sake of 'the rush.' And, when the fox is finally caught by the hounds, they tear it apart while it is alive.
There are various Canadian Foxhunting groups like: The London Hunt, Eglinton & Caledon Hounds, The Hamilton Hunt Club, Ottawa Valley Hunt, Toronto & North York Hunt, Wellington-Waterloo Hunt, and Beaver Meadow Foxhounds.

Most of these organizations claim they are hunting 'scent trails,' which are artificially placed trails of fox scent for the hounds to hunt. However, there's a loophole in the case that they find a real fox in the way and 'can't control the hounds,' leading to the mutilation of the fox. The fox may even be attracted to the scent trail, smelling another fox and going for a closer look.
Foxhunting is brutal and unnecessary, and has already been banned in England, where it began. We should follow the example of ending this brutal sport.

The emails I receive about the cruelty of these hunts are exhausting to read because the reality is so bleak. I am still pushing this forward even when the silence from these hunting clubs feels like a brick wall. We keep going because this practice has no place in our country.

Seeing this grow makes the long nights feel a little less lonely. I am exhausted by the cruelty we are fighting but this momentum keeps me moving forward.

This is a disgusting, inhuman, cruel sport that wealthy people get an adrenaline rush from participating in. This sport needs to be BANNED in Canada
Stop slaughtering our wildlife ..this is inhumane to watch an animal being ripped apart..
This activity existing in 2021 is as bizarre as modern day vivisection and lice infested powdered wigs. Wear the nifty outfit if you like, and ride your hobbyhorse to hunt komodo dragons. YOU be the fox this time.

Cannot believe this is legal in Canada - thought it only persisted in geriatric backwaters like England.

Hunting is done on foot and requires tracking and a brain. If you use other animals to track the animal you are hunting this is no longer considered hunting it becomes animal cruelty, animal abuse and blood sport only. Please stop abusing starving dogs as well in order to accomplish your bloodlust.
