The number of bags used in Singapore is astronomical. If not banned, at least impose a cost per bag system like many of the European countries have imposed.

Since moving to Singapore this is one thing that has really bothered me- the overuse of plastic and plastic bags especially is obscene. Singaporeans seem to have to concept of the effects of using disposable plastic. I yell out 'no plastic' very loudly every time I am at the supermarket or anywhere where they try to give me a plastic bag!

Great initiative! I am fighting for years against use of free plastic bag automatically offered for any good purchased... i always bring a tote bag or carry them in my hand bag whenever possible... i wish others would also refuse these plastic bags any time possible...

Need to make sure there are alternate products when getting rid of plastic etc. Like Cold Storage plastic for fruit. Need brown paper bags as example. Also if you get rid of plastic water bottle need to Ensure plenty of drinking fountains around Singapore.

Supermarkets and shops give away too many of them... irresponsible attitude. Save the earth!!! Use paperbags or canvas bag instead
