Ban cellphone use in all BC school classrooms.

We are selling our kids out to meta and it is tragic. Come on parents, step up and do your job.: Fight to protect childhood.

I have seen no advantage, but clear disadvantage to my twin teenage boys having wifi access and cellphone permission in the school. I didn't want them to attend a high school where wifi was supplied and cell phones were the norm, and dismayed the school didn't have a clearer and enforced policy. I now know it's problematic and there's a high degree of social media addiction causing distraction from learning. I wished the schools had acted sooner but now I'm asking to have schools as cell-use free learning zones. Please create a cell phone ban in all elementary, middle and high schools. (And no I'm not concerned about being able to reach them, lll do it the old fashioned way; call the office to pass them a message.) Shannon Johnson

Schools should be phone free. I did all my schoolin with out a cell phone, so there really isn't any reason as to why students today shouldn't be able to do the same thing. It's rude, and disrespectful and is not teaching students anything, except how to fry their brains!

I agree they should not be used in class. Maybe having a spot at the front for those to place their phones would work just as well, but they should not have them on their person during class.

I don't think kids should have cell phones till they are out of highschool. I never had one till I went to college.

As an on call Education Assistant in my local school district, I have a chance to go into several different schools and classrooms. I am appalled at how many high school students are texting on their phones, surfing the internet (not for educational research) or have their earbuds in listening to music. When the teachers ask students to put away their cell phones, they either put it away momentarily and pull it out again as soon as the teacher turns away OR completely ignores the teacher altogether! I often wonder why there isn't a basket at the front of each classroom for kids to put their cell phones into until after class is over.

I think allowing kids to use cell phones at school is not only distracting and disruptive but doesn't help them learn properly because they can rely on their phone for google and calculators, etc.

Absolutely, there is no way they can concentrate on what the teacher is saying or teaching if they also have the temptation of their phone close by. In the lockers is where cell phones belong.

Kids need to get the best from their teachers and education and cell phones are a distraction from that happening. Support our valuable teachers and respect what they're delivering to our kids. There's enough time for media fluff after class.
