I'd like to voice my opposition against the Bunnings proposal on Roberts road for many reasons but mainly as stated below this type of application is a poor fir and poorly timed for the area, also - The peninsula already has two hardware stores to service residents. They will be greatly affected by a Bunnings presence - in fact they will very likely be forced to close down. A Bunnings warehouse in this location, or anywhere on the peninsula, or any nearby Inner West residential enclave will create horrendous traffic jams for Victoria Rd, City West Link, Anzac Parade and our main southern entry into the Balmain peninsula. This is already a huge issue for the area with times from Balmain to the CBD (typically a 5 minute run) taking up to 40 mins during peak hour times. IT WILL BASICALLY CREATE PEAK HOUR TRAFFIC CONDITIONS FROM 6AM RIGHT THROUGH to 10PM. This part of Rozelle is zoned light Commercial and typically houses small office spaces, storage warehouses and fitness facilities. BUNNINGS DOES NOT FIT INTO ANY OF THESE CATEGORIES OR STREET SCAPES. With the stunning heritage White Bay Power Station already in the process of remediation and master planning to create a stunning world class Tech Hub + public cultural space, this plan for Bunnings is even more insulting and insane. THERE IS SIMPLY NO SYNERGY HERE! It will sit directly opposite the renovated Power Station and stunning Bays Precinct that Urban Growth is currently developing and managing. In contrast to beauty, heritage, history and a purposeful public space with access to our stunning waters, this ugly commercial building will be exactly that - ugly! With proposed early and late trading hours (6am to 10pm) NEARBY RESIDENTS AND EVEN OTHER PARTS OF THE PENINSULA WILL BE AFFECTED BY CONTINUAL DAILY NOISE, TRAFFIC AND EXCESSIVE WEAR AND TEAR ON OUR ROADS AND STREETS. The store will attract tradespeople from all over Sydney, TURNING BALMAIN and ROZELLE INTO A CONSTRUCTION ZONE AND TH

Dear Council - I do not support the granting of a DA to Bunnings on the Balmain Penninsula. I prefer to shop with local businesses and think it is an unnecessary proposal which will damage the community and small business. Emma

There are two perfectly good LOCAL hardware stores in the area and WE SHOP LOCAL around here.

This is already a traffic nightmare area, why would anyone want to add to that. And we have 2 local hardware stores already in Balmain/Rozelle. Let alone the assault on local scale and architecture....

An absolutely absurd proposal with two other local business adversely affected, incredibly poor traffic movement already in those streets. Not to mention destroying the heritage of Rozelle and Balmain which should be strongly protected.

The construction of a Bunnibgs Warehouse will do nothing for the residents of Balmain and Rozelle who are already well serviced for hardware in the suburbs and are close enough to other Bunnings stores. It would negatively affect the traffic flow in the area as well as bringing additional traffic to an already congested area in Roberts, Mullens, Victoria Rd. Out of character with other existing and proposed development.
