Local Branches are the lifeblood of the ALP. Member-led FECs, SECs, MECs keep the grassroots links to the candidates and elected MPs active.

Branches are the grass roots of the Party. Keep them strong. Reduce other buearcracy.

I oppose the changes to party rules which will abolish local electoral councils and expand member registration beyond local geographical branches.

I agree branches need to be available to members to meet and receive feedback and information going in both directions to have an input in to how policy will affect and benefit its members.

I agree with everything in this petition. We must not diminish the strength of our branches. New members bond much with the Party when they join a branch, they also make new friends and learn the essence of our great Party.

The Branches do the bulk of the work come election time FECs SECs and MECs are the life blood that feeds necessary information to the heart of the organization. Local knowledge of local issues are the only way we can stay ahead of the LNP. Local faces local contacts is our strength. Don’t allow changes that will weaken our party.

Rankin FEC voted unanimously to totally oppose the changes to the party rules to abolish electoral councils and expand member registration beyond local geographical branches

As an SEC office bearer, I believe that we contribute strongly to all three election campaigns but share the responsibility by taking leadership for the State campaign as do the members of the Federal (FEC) and Municipal (MEC) members all of whom are nominated from each branch within the electorate. Although the Bonner Branches meet separately, these committees develop the cameraderie between branches and respect for the nominated candidates as we work closely with them. The edge that a Federal Coalition member referred to regarding the next election was the ALP numbers on the ground. We don't have more money but we have more volunteers and as a volunteer I feel very insulted that the Party Office would even consider altering this structure that has proven so effective and without appropriate consultation with Branch members!

Grass roots is the lifeblood of our democratic party and to be protected if the ALP is to remain a democratic institution, not devolving all power to a central executive as was case in Qld under the Old Guard days

Would resign from Party and withdraw from all volunteer work on pre poll and election days.Let the new committee members arrange and run the elections without Branch members help in the future.
