I believe this young woman should have the right to put David Broome's name on the birth certificate and the law should be chanaged to reflect this. If a mother believes a man is the father of her child and that man has died then she should not have to meet the costs to prove he is the father. The government should cover any costs.

I'm also trying to do this for my son who is now deceased, but was told by a lawyer it could not be done because father has to give his consent. There must be a way to fight this tho it would be very costly. Every child should have the right to their fathers name on their birth certificate regardless of the circumstances.

As a proud Greek, I highly value the part of family in the lives of individuals. In extenuating circumstances such as these it hardly seems logical to deny a child their deceased father's name on a birth certificate. Putting a family that is clearly in financial distress under an even greater burden goes against the purpose of our government. The government's goal is not to put up red tape. It is supposed to facilitate the needs of the people. Therefore, this law should be reconsidered.

How sad the state of the world when a father passes away yet the family is unable to properly grieve due to silly bureaucracy! The child, the mother, & the surviving family should not have to argue the paternity... give the poor child his last name. That's all the baby will have.
