I am so so passionate and eager to help spread education and awareness with the world on Mental Health. I am currently a Bachelors student graduating in May 2016 and interning at a local Behavioral Hospital, everything about this population fascinates me but one thing I see over and over again is misguided individuals who just haven't been able to receive the proper education and guidance to overcome mental health issues. My part time job is on weekends, at a group home with 5 adults who are diagnosed with mental illness, I assist these individuals with ADL's and community outings, as well as administer their medications. Please, contact me if I can in any way help you and your organization. I will do all that I can to spread awareness for these individuals living with mental health as well as spread understanding to our community. Call me, anytime 956-432-5065. I am just a student whose passion is assisting individuals with mental health. After graduating I plan to become a case manager/LCDC for individuals with dual diagnosis and then later receive higher education and become a LPC and hopefully make a great impact for these individuals and our community. Thank you for your time.

As a future professional social worker, I am very passionate about serving the mental illness population and am committed to erasing the stigmas they face. This population suffers from a type of illness that is invisible, which is all too often either undertreated or left untreated. By actively making this a priority, together we can help the mental illness population achieve recovery and live their lives to their fullest potential. Please help end the gross injustice caused by the disparity of mental health care by joining me as an advocate and signing this important petition!

Living in an area with a lack of mental health options is difficult. Funding can't just be hit and miss. This is people's lives, futures, health.

It is too bad that a persons mental health can only be helped by their ability to pay. I have been fighting to receive help for many years and have two insurance plans and still cannot find the appropriate help because of the cost. We need your support!

Being afraid to call 911 for help when our mentally ill loved one loses touch with reality & knowing they will be arrested & jailed instead of medical care leaves her & her family living in fear for her safety. And we call ourselves a humane society?

I have been married for almost 2 years been with my husband for almost 3 . And i found out monday he was skizo frantic. After a week long rampange from the sweetest guy in the world. It took 4 days and multiple trips to the hospital and they kept releasing him. They waited until it was so bad he could of got h self killed. My sweet kind husband went up in a school making threats . I was so lucky the officer at the school knew him and knew something wasnt right. Why was my husband let to suffer for days and had to try to cause harm to someone before they would help him? Isnt it better to stop it before it does go to far? Before my husband or someone else gets hurt or killed? How do we change these laws? Early prevention for everyt other medical condition except mental illiness? I am at a loss!

I work in a Mental Health doctors office. Mental Health is SO important to me and I see a lot of people daily who need the help, the majority being acute situations that people don't think about when it comes to Mental Health, like not feeling motivated enough to leave the house or getting nervous when ordering take out over the phone.

do something. anything. save lives now. tomorrow may be too late. that we people receiving public community mental health services are dying in droves (average age of 52 y.o.) and typically 25 years ahead of that person who receives private mental health is dire. it is shameful.

As a person with lived experience and long term recovery I give credence to this fact that prevention works, early intervention and appropriate conventional as well as alternative treatments and non clinical recovery supports is key.

We need more providers to treat patients with mental health issues. More beds so patients who are mentally ill, are not held in hospitals awaiting a bed to be on e available.

Detecting a mental health issue is so important to live a healthy and safe life. And for some people it is the difference between life and death. It is so important to me that people have an outlet for help and support.
