I support the Arizona Democratic Progressive Cuacus and Arizona Democratic Labor Caucus joint National Healthcare Reform Resolution: National Healthcare Reform Resolution Whereas, nearly 50 million Americans lack any health insurance at all, and even more are underinsured and have inadequate insurance, and Whereas, we lag far behind many other nations in health care outcomes such as life expectancy, infant mortality, and preventable deaths, despite spending almost twice as much per person on health care, and Whereas, more than 18,000 Americans die every year because they do not have access to health care or a doctor of their own, and Whereas, we have a major shortage in primary care physicians, nurses, and dentists, and thousands of doctors and the largest nurses unions in the country support a single-payer health care system, and Whereas, Americans spend one in every seven dollars on health care, and almost one in every three dollars spent on health care goes for administration, bureaucracy, and profiteering, and Whereas, health care is a larger and larger hardship on American families, and one million Americans will go bankrupt this year because of medically related debt, and Whereas, American business is at a disadvantage, when competing on the global markets, because of the cost of providing health insurance for their employees.
