Please keep the race as it is. If the city can shut down the bridge and parts of downtown for races--certainly the city can manage a way to keep the runners safe in the Avondale 5K!

I would hope the traditional race and its historic location remains as is. It is for a very good cause.

There seems to be a trend in the City (and the Town of Mt Pleasant) to eliminate runs that have been held for years using the "safety" reasoning however I don't know of one auto/runner accident which has occurred in any organized run in the Tri-county. Charleston and the surrounding communities enjoy the reputation of being friendly communities that support active people but their actions speak differently. I'm not sure who is behind the cancellations of these popular events but I think it's safe to assume it's not someone that is an active runner. The City and the Town of Mt. Pleasant should listen to the people that put them in office and figure out a way to satisfy their concerns for safety instead of taking the unfair and unfounded position to cancel or move these events to locations that just do not work.

please please please keep this 5K in Avondale. It's a great race and the neighborhood support from residents during the run is always so fun and special. Please don't take it away!

PLEASE keep the race in Avondale! This is a very important cause and the exposure to the general public and visibility that the race has because it is held in Avondale is vital to growing awareness. More over, the business community in Avondale is an important participant in the event. We draw customers to their businesses and in general they are integral to making the event happen. Moving the race to a park will directly diminish the exposure of the event and decrease the money we are able to raise. This will have a direct negative effect on the cause as a whole. I graciously ask that you reconsider. I trust that you will make the right decision and keep the race in Avondale.
