This is a great event for the community and the causes it raises money for. It is part of the fabric of West Ashley because of where it is held!

This is a great race and community event.. I hope the City of Charleston will let this great event continue. Besides being a great event for the runners it raises monies for a cause.

Part of the draw for me is actually coming to Avondale for the race, and I've never felt unsafe. I've run it twice and had a great time both times.

As the editor and publisher of West Of (West Ashley's newspaper) I've closely followed the Avondale 5K since it's inception. It's easily West Ashley's best fundraising event of the year.
The driving force behind this event has been Edward Condon and the folks over at Triangle Char & Bar in the Avondale neighborhood. It is Mr. Condon's and his staff's commitment to this community that makes the Run/Walk such a success, benefitting a West Ashley non-profit that is otherwise largely unknown to many, even within our our community.
The Avondale 5K helps shine a light on the good work that The Charles Webb Center is doing. I firmly believe that the success of the Avondale 5K has a lot to do with the fact that it's literally part of the Avondale neighborhood. Residents and business owners alike support this event and with it culminating at Triangle, gives participants a chance to gather in a family-friendly setting following the race.
I feel strongly that taking it out of the very community it is named after would be detrimental to the success of the event and ultimately to the children who benefit from the Charles Webb Center.
