AUSharjah - Reconsider the Tuition Increase

It’s already expensive enough and we were online in the spring semester and didn’t get to use any of the labs. Also the activity fees including the printing fees are rarely used why are we paying that much for it. And some don’t have scholarships to cover the tuition which is completely unfair and with the inflation that is occurring it becomes difficult to afford and make money that well. Unreasonable if fees are going to increase

The proposed increase in tuition fees for the Fall is completely unacceptable, and quite frankly disconnected from reality, especially given the current geopolitical and economic instability affecting students and families alike. Many families are already struggling to manage essential living expenses, and this sudden financial burden places an unfair strain on students who are simply trying to continue their education. For many of us, including students on scholarships, this increase could make it financially impossible to remain enrolled at the university. Scholarships already cover only part of the overall cost of attendance, and additional fee hikes risk forcing deserving students to discontinue their studies through no fault of their own. What makes this decision even more frustrating is the fact that tuition fees for Spring 2026 remained unchanged despite a significant portion of the semester being conducted online, with limited or no access to campus facilities, laboratories, and practical learning resources like studios. Students were expected to pay full fees while receiving a reduced on campus experience and restricted access to essential academic services. We strongly urge the Chancellor and university administration to reconsider this decision and engage meaningfully with the student body before implementing any increase. At a time when students need support and understanding the most, imposing higher fees sends the wrong message and risks placing quality education further out of reach for many.

I believe that tuition fees should not be raised for next semester as the conditions are not met with this decision. So many jobs have been affected which affects financial stability.

- Cancel the Fall 2026 Fee Increase - An increase of almost 6% , occurring at a difficult financial time for many families - An increase happening despite most of Spring semester being online

How does it make sense to increase tuition fees after an entire semester was delivered online? Students already dealt with reduced campus access, fewer physical resources, and a completely different university experience than what we originally signed up and paid for. If anything, costs should have stayed the same or even decreased. Now we’re expected to return next semester while fuel prices, transportation costs, and everyday living expenses are already increasing. So what exactly justifies raising prices right now? Students are not just numbers on a spreadsheet. Many families are already struggling to keep up with the cost of education, and increasing fees under these circumstances feels completely disconnected from reality. At the very least, students deserve transparency and a proper explanation instead of another financial burden added on top of everything else.

My family is going through difficult financial times. Infact we have taken a big loan too. This sudden increase in fees will impact us very negatively. We are students attending for education we cannot give put so much financial stress on our parents. increasing fees so much is going to hinder us students from getting the very education the university was build for

This wasn’t communicated at all. We haven’t even been using the facility for the past few months. This is not ethical we were not warned and on top of that we have to pay for stuff like homework platforms for physics and maths. This is completely unreasonable
