J Feature: That's the great thing about being part of the MOOS group, they tended to be relatively generous when defining their own benefits. We didn't have to negotiate because the benefits were great.

How else are the AHS IT MOOS staff supposed to articulate our frustration? Oh I know: AUPE and AHS could do a formal vote to see how many people are onboard with this. Given that there are 335 signatures in 6 days for a pool of less than 1000 staff, I'd say they already know what the majority would say anyway.
AUPE did not force the Union, AUPE was already a union in the Alberta Health world before amalgamation. When AHS decided to amalgamate they forced this issue. They knew you would have to join the union, but made that decision for you.

If you had been part of a union for the last five years of amalgamation you would have gotten a raise . Every year.
At this point you would be making close to 15% more than what you were 5 years ago.
There doe snot need to be a vote and this is why we have not been consulted. If you are upset with joining a union be upset where it is due, with AHS.
If they had not amalgamated , you would not have to be in a union. DId you have any say about amalgamation? Did you have a choice when they gave you a new contact? Did you have a choice when they changed your job description and benefits the last time?
Did you have a choice of taking a wage freeze or not?
If you were charged with a crime would you go to court without a lawyer? Then why do you feel you can go into contract negotiations with your employer on your own?
Have you spoken to anyone in the union office about your reservations?

There was a vote it was years ago in those areas that were unionized. There is no vote because we are all one now. That is not the unions fault , that was AHS.
Did you get a vote when we got our new benfits package?

There was no deal, AHS amalgamated, other staff who did the same job as you had a union. You can't have staff who are doing the same job not be in the union if there are others who are unionized. Simple.
This was a decision of the AHS VP's they decided to amalgamate, that is what caused you to be in a union

I feel I should have the right to vote on something that will affect me as directly as being compelled to belong to a union.

if unions are intended to serve the workers why was the deal made with the management and not us?
