they finally cut ties with those groups and acknowledged how harmful these affiliations were. i cant thank you enough for sticking by me when people said this was impossible to change. we need to keep paying attention to these orgs but for now let everyone know we actually pulled this …

I don't believe Tony Attwood's decision to affiliate himself with FAAS is unthinking, given his penchant for cruelly mocking Autistic people, but here's hoping.
Being on the functional side of the spectrum, I find the premise of " CADD" offensive and judgmental. I love my son and my partner despite her difficulties with my ASD, which has been a great positive in many persistent endeavors, despite it's social challenges. The misinformation of CADD has damaged our relationship and of countless others most likely. Please end this discriminatory practice, immediately.
I know this is old, but I was horrified to recently learn that there are people spreading the harmful idea that autistic people are by nature abusive spouses. I hope Drs. Attwood & Henault have by now disassociated themselves from these organizations.
Just because some people who supposedly have AS are toxic doesn't make all Aspies or Auties toxic.
This organisation has brought so much hurt to my life. It, and the websites in its Resources section, made me feel worthless and it brought me to the lowest point in my entire life. I wanted to kill myself. I had people who had been misinformed by this organisation say horrible things to me. I am so glad I found this petition and I am so glad that I had supportive family members who helped me out.
A commitment to illuminating prejudice and revealing disinformation is more important than ever as U.S. and some global systems continue to move toward collapse.
I have joined these online groups myself and pretended to be a partner because I thought it was weird when I saw a support group for "Cassandra Syndrome" and partners of people with "Asperger's" because one, people who don't care that we don't use Asperger's anymore are people who don't care about Autistic people, and two, Autistic people are more likely to be abused than abuse people, and as someone who has been in am an Autistic person who abusive relationship. Most of those people didn't even have a diagnosis, and 95% of the accounts of partners in those groups were the same as the accounts of people in all the Narcissistic Abuse support groups, and a few appeared to have Borderline Personality Disorder which, as it was pretty much all female partners, is due to gender stereotypes misdiagnosed in men. I'm not saying that none of them were Autistic, but Autism by itself does not make someone abusive. If they have NPD or BPD as well? Yes. But believe me, it's impossible to your abusive partner to get a diagnosis like that because it would be a huge red flag and make it harder for them to get people to trust them. These groups are hate groups and they spread false information, hate and fear. And I knew that this would affect the Autistic community, and God, when are we ever going to catch a break. All the Autistic people I know are lovely, and it's never US who are the ones starting hate groups and saying the most vile and horrible things about us? Who's the one who lacks empathy?

I was horrified to learn about the bogus "Cassandra" disorder. No attempt to show empirical evidence-just an attempt to make money
