Lil' Fins is an organization made by two students (Kelly & Ashley) in grade seven. Our goal with this petition is to add more protected areas to the Atlantic Ocean, mainly Îles de la Madelaine. Only 2.8% of world's oceans are protected areas which really isn't a lot. Îles de la Madelaine was proposed for protection back in 2011 because of all the sea creatures living there. We would like to make zoned multiple-use MPA's in some areas of Îles de la Madelaine. A zoned multiple-use MPA means that people may take resources but only in specific areas. You will be able to use small paddled boats, you still will be able to swim, scuba dive, take some resources, and snorkel. Motorboats and fishing will be prohibited and there will be no-take zones in some areas.
