English teachers grade SO many essays among other assignments and large class loads make that almost impossible to grade when there are so many students. Futhermore, most employees are adjunct faculty & do not get insurance.

English instructors and the work they do are critically important to the university. Freshmen retention and success in other courses hinge, somewhat, on whether students have effective writing skills. Crucial feedback will dwindle if instructors workload increases 25% without pay.

A 5/5 workload is another ridiculous expectation by ASU that not only diminishes the quality of education of the students but the morale of the instructors who are forced to meet this load or lose their jobs. Forcing instructors to teach 5/5 is a lose/lose proposition.
