In addition to creating a burden on the faculty, this move will undoubtedly harm students. Anyone valuing student-education ought to oppose a 5/5 load.

My son will be applying to colleges soon. We'll be looking for schools that treat their adjuncts fairly and pay them a decent wage.

An inhumane load leads to burnt out instructors as well as the necessity to eliminate best practice pedagogy in favor or expediency. Students as well as faculty are losing here.

Instructors should be valued, not exploited.

The exploitation of part-time or temporary instructors is as shameful as it is endemic. At my institution, full time faculty went so far as to strike for the inclusion of part-timers in the union and fairer (if not fair) treatment.

A 5-5 teaching loan is neither possible for effective teaching, or humane. Teachers are not machines.

A 5-5 load is impossible for instructors and would hamper student success considerably.

The non tenure track instructional faculty are already doing too much given the reduced salary and job security their positions afford. There is a limit to how much weight you can pile on.

The erosion of college education and the exploitation of instructors are both deplorable

This is a vile abuse of already over-loaded faculty. As a senior member iof my institution (though retired) I protest in the strongest possible terms.
