English faculty and administrators across the nation stand in support of the "ASU Against 5/5" movement. A quality education for students and sound teaching conditions for instructors should not be sacrificed due to budget shortfalls. Students and faculty are the heart of the university. The university does not exist without them. Budget shortfalls must be met another way.

Instructors should be recognized and valued for their service to the university, not punished and used as a means of making up a budget shortfall. ASU itself has noted that decreased class size and overall student total increase retention.
