A lot of us can not afford to buy books. The library is our only way to read books. The library also provides computer access for those who do not have one or have the internet. They provide a lot of services to the community that are very important.

I work in a library and volunteer at a school library and I get to see daily how much having free access to information helps people young and old and how a library can foster the love and passion for reading in young children and teens. Oftentimes, this passion translates into better behavior at home, better grades, and smarter life choices for kids. As an educational institution, we are always striving for ways to make information MORE accessible for our patrons and to get them the information and materials that they need and want from their library. Our library system is one of the best in the nation, a fact that I am immensely proud of, and it is for a reason. Take away our funding and you only serve to hurt the community at large and take away something great that they can be proud of.
