Ask the Governor to Release Funds for Missouri's Public Libraries

Please release funds for Missouri's Public Libraries to continue public access to quality print and digital information, and programming. Without free and unfettered access to information in all its forms we cannot educate and maintain an informed electorate, and, in turn, our democratic republic.

I live in Lee's Summit, MO and our two libraries are always full, no matter the time of day. This is a valuable resource that is being used by the people. please keep our libraries serving their communities!

Governor Nixon, public libraries are fundamental to the health and vitality of Missouri's communities. We teach computers, job searching skills, early literacy skills, provide safe places for our youth to go after school, provide meaningful educational programming to all ages, and so much more. But we can't do it when our funding is cut short. Please - release our funds!

Democray can only work well when those who elect the leaders are educated in current events and issues as well as those of the past. Libraries are an integral part of this education and electronic access is an important part of this education in our technological world.

Knowlege and information are the great equalizers. Why anyone would want to decrease access to both of these and access to learning the skills to pursue the afore mentioned is beyond my comprehension. It's speaks very poorly of our state that it does not recognize this.Mr. Nixon, I feel bad for you, that your parents didn't take you to the library as a child and show you what a wonderful place it is. Maybe, you should check it out now so you know what you have been missing all this time.

As a homeschooling family in the state of Missouri, we depend on the library for so many things. Every community does. Today with the gap between the haves and the have-nots ever widening, we must support community beneficial programs like the library.
