Ask the Governor to Release Funds for Missouri's Public Libraries

As a homeschooling family in the state of Missouri, we depend on the library for so many things. Every community does. Today with the gap between the haves and the have-nots ever widening, we must support community beneficial programs like the library.

Governor Nixon, I realize that budgets are tight, but I would simply ask that you consider the libraries in your overall budget picture. From a personal standpoint, I can tell you that our library means the world to us. We started taking our daughter to "Story Time" back when she was only 2 or 3. Now as a high school student she is in the top 2% in the reading part of her ACT. Our hope is that others will have the same opportunities our daughter had, and it all starts with someone who I stills a love for reading like our librarian did. Libraries are an integral part of the community. It's not just books...it's access to the world. People use libraries to study, they apply for jobs, they come for educational programs, etc. Providing money for the library isn't just about books, it's educating and empowering a community.

Missouri libraries are some of the most nimble resources in Missouri and have the added benefit of reaching every corner of the state. Release the funding now for all Missourians.
