Being an employee of a public library that servers a rural population, I see lots of patrons who come "into town" to get supplies and use the library. Some use the library's public internet computers because their rural connection is slow. Others don't have residential internet access at all. Many employers now take job applications online only. Print State and Federal Income Tax Forms are no longer provided to libraries, so patrons can access and print those by using library internet computers. They can even file their taxes online. Many patrons use social media to stay in touch with loved ones who live a distance away or are serving over seas with our military. It has been the philosopy of the state to provide internet access to every Missouri citizen. Having the REAL program funding withheld is in direct conflict with that philosophy. Although Missouri libraries also receive federal grants for some projects, they may be deterred from that support if the state does not share that priorty. Why would a grant for computers be awarded if there was no funding to provide internet access as part of their use? Thank you for these considerations.

Governor's priorities; give millions to billionaires, cut funding for public libraries.
"Nixon to restore the $3 million that the state spends each year to support Arrowhead and Kauffman stadiums, the homes of the Chiefs and Royals."

I grew up on Missouri libraries and am sad to see that the governor doesn't find them as important as the citizens do
