These funds were already budgeted. Please release them to be used as appropriated. This will, also, cost the library systems matching federal funds. Our entire state will suffer.

there is so much waste of public money -so much else can be trimmed besides the libraries where each dollar has so much value to the public

I sent a letter to the Kansas City Star complaining. Hopefully this can help snowball the movement!

As a Master-degreed educator and parent, I am appalled! And increasingly embarrassed to call myself a Missourian.First, education, now public libraries. The first is intrinsically supported by the second. This has to stop now. Missouri is falling farther and farther behind, and our youth is falling behind right along with these under-funded entities.

Listen, I understand about budgets. I have one I have trouble balancing, myself. However, there are ways to succeed at this to make everyone happy; and in my estimation, it is our elected officials' responsiblity to represent his/her constituents, as well as the children who cannot yet vote. To "stiff" your voters and their children is nothing less than abomdinable. I will remember you in the future as you have remembere us, Mr. Nixon and Legislators. You won't prevent my Internet connection and access to information used to achieve my degree, research my vote, and educate my grandchildren. I must insist you show us we are important to you instead of stifling our learning. There is already a quashing of intellectual pursuits in this country, and if I were you, I would not want to be on the wrong side of history.

Please restore funding to Missouri's libraries. The free access to knowledge and information is invaluable in building an educated and empowered citizenry.
